Recipe: Almond Spelt Bread
Time to Prepare: 15 min. Total Time: 1 hr. Makes: 1 loaf
2 ¼ cups spelt flour
1 cup finely ground almonds
½ tsp. sea salt
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 ¾ cups almond milk
¼ cup coconut oil, melted
1 tbs. honey (raw)
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F. line 8 ½ ” X 4 ½ ” loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In bowl, whisk together spelt flour, ground almonds, sea salt and baking powder. Stir in almond milk, coconut oil and honey until smooth batter forms. Transfer to prepared pan.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes. or until done. Let cool in pan 20 minutes. Unmold, remove parchment paper and let cool completely.
SPELT – Spelt flour has a nutty, slightly sweet flavor and can be used in most recipes that call for regular or whole-wheat flour. it has more protein than wheat, and it contains gluten. It is a good source of fibre, calcium, magnesium, selenium, zinc, iron, and manganese. It also has vitamin E and B-complex vitamins (especially niacin).

HONEY: Source of energy as raw honey is high in carbohydrates.
